Show j TWO STDKS TO THE QUESTION Usually, when a person speaks or : '"'r.ies to a ro:;-IiiKion without hearing hear-ing or 'Knowing l:n(h sides of a question, ques-tion, that person rc's into trouble, ."'-(1 (hot. is just what happened to n:e last Wednesday evening at the i'an-hfi- of foivrneyre meeting. During the discussion on the school fMirstinn. I touk occasion to compli-:nont compli-:nont th principal of the Beaver j hffrh school for his altitude towards public affairs, and his boosting the school and school activities; and T I also criticised the principal and j teachers of the Milford high school for apparent neglect of those acti vities. However, I did say to the chamber, that Milford had the best corps of teachers at the present time that she ever had, and that in the schools they were doing splendid work. At the close of the meeting, I was waited on by a delegation of teachers teach-ers from the school, and what they told me was enough to make me ashamed, not only of myself but of the people of the town and the chamber cham-ber of commerce in particular. I was told that the teachers were seldom, or never, invited to take part in or assist in any of the social w. rk; they were seldom or never invited! in-vited! to the homes of the parents; and the teachers are nearly all boarding board-ing out, or living at the hotels; that the parents seldom or never visited the schools; that at the beginning ot the school year they had tried to break through and do some commun ity work, but received little or no encouragement; that no member of the faculty had ever been invited to attend or to become members of the chamber of commerce. Now, to these teachers I wish to say again, as I have said before. Milford Mil-ford has the best corps of teachers she ever had. To Prof. Terry, I have always admired ad-mired his work in the school room, and with the pupils outside it. However, How-ever, the feeling had come over me that be was doing little to help the! ! school spirit along on the outside, and it was that feeling which prompt I od my remarks. Since discussing the question with a delegation of school teachers, I I' vl that this statement is (Inc.
