The ' announcement that the chamber cham-ber of commerce would discuss the school question brought out an extra ex-tra large attendance at the Milford hotel last-Wednesday evening " : President II. C. Hunter presided and stated the special objec'.s of the meeting. Mr. Sloan, for the school beard, explained the lo::gterm-shortday school year. ,.-Froru his talk, it would seem that the school board is only trying 'to: find 'out what the1 public, especially (he parents of children effected, ef-fected, think,' and 'what1 -would be their attitude toward a ten and a half month's school year for the children, up and including the fourth grade. , . : .,!... It appears that an official of the 'railroad company had stated that it might be possible for a Jap colony o be located at Las Vegas and one might be' brought-to this valley and he had asked what the attitude of jth.s chamber -would be on the question ques-tion that the railroad wanted to know' so they might decide how to proceed. A letter was also read from La? Vegas, stating that arrangements were being made there for a Jap colony col-ony to come into -that valley. Messrs Sloan.. Bybee, Hanks, Jef- erson, Murdock and AI. Cline, took part in the discussion, and: their views were as far apart as the poles, although nearly ail agreed that to deed land to Jap? would not be for the best interests of the country.
