A special citizens' census of which a result was recently recent-ly announced showed that Nome had a winter population of 1374. The census cen-sus was taken to settle arguments arising in a diphtheria epidemic in January and February that took six lives, as to how many persons lived here between the last boat in October Octo-ber and the first in May. The count tallied 950 whites and 414 Eskimos and Indians. Seattle, Wash. Edward P. Judd, an attorney of Seattle for. twenty years and son of Norman Judd, who nominated Abraham Lincoln for president, pres-ident, died here. Edward Judd was formerly county attorney for Cook County, 111., and from 1S61 to 1S6G served as minister to Prussia. He was collector of the port of Chicago and a member of congress. Mr. Judd was a leader among Masons here. Yuma, Ariz. Skeletons of 29 prehistoric pre-historic Indians have just been unearthed un-earthed near Iron's ranch on the Miami-Superior highway, by Eric H. Schmidt, archaelogist of the Museum of Natural History of New York who is employed by Mrs. Wifiiam Boye Thompson, now in Superior, Ariz., to investigate some of the Arizona prehistoric pre-historic ruins. The skeletons indicate indi-cate some of the Indians were over six feet tall. About 2000 Indians relics rel-ics have also been found in 50 of the 120 rooms unearthed.
