Show U. OP U. NEWS BUREAU The government is spending more than J 40,000 a year for part-time military training of students at the University of Utah. It was estimated that $525.00 was spent on each man taking the military work at the state university last year. The purpose of this training is to prepare the University men for commissions as second lieutenants in the Reserve Officers' Training corps, to serve for a period of five years in case of necessity t -time when they would otherwise be drafted. draft-ed. Students who register in the law. medical, engineering, arts and other courses at the university are able to take several classes a week in niil-'t niil-'t irv training along with their o' work. These students are furnished their clothing for nine months in the year; they are given training under the direction of officers of the regular regu-lar army, and have the use of Government Gov-ernment guns, horses and field artillery ar-tillery instruments. In the last two years of the course the men are pain at the rate of $165.35, per year. |
