Show LECTURES ON SAFETY FIRST MAY WELL BE COMBINED WITH LECTURES ON COURTESY Safety and courtesy should occupy the first place in efficiency records. Both safety and courtesy mean, not only the building up of the official record of an employee, but they mean actual cash. Courtesy pays Not only in personal person-al satisfaction over a kindly deed performed in the right spirit, but It . pays in cold cash as well. On the other hand, a man has to pay for discourtesy. dis-courtesy. Unless courtesy predominates among the employees themselves, it will not prevail as a whole between employees and the patrons of the road. Forced courtesy on the part of an employee to tlie patrons of the road hasi no value. Let us educate ourselves to be courteous among ourselves. By so doing, we, as employees, will unconsciously uncon-sciously be courteous to the patrons of the Toad. The day has long passed for a superior su-perior head to approach the employee (of his department with an oath or to criticise the employee who may be at fault in public. Other means are provided for correcting an employee. The superior head of any department depart-ment will as a rule gain the ever-lasting friendship of an employee with a kind word and a smile. Play the game of life like a gentleman. gen-tleman. Courtesy is just a matter of smiling instead of swearing. Josh McKosh. |
