Show U. P. OFFICIALS VISIT PUMPING DISTRICT-HAVE DISTRICT-HAVE FAITH IN FUTURE A party of railroad officials, headed head-ed by Mr. M deBrahant, assistant M attic manager of the U. P. system, with otiices in Los Angeles, arrived here late Thursday evening In his private ear. and were shown over a part of the valley by a number of Milford' boosters. Other members of Mr. DeBrabant's party were: his sister, Miss R. de Brabant, his secretary. Miss Dorothy Doro-thy Ames, B. M. Prescott, traveling service agent, E. J. Hanson, general agent at Salt Lake and W. II. Lee, traveling freight agent. The party came here at the earnest request of Paul Evans, who is the proud owner of one of the new wells in the pumping district. Automobiles to take the party out were furnished by M. Reisner, Geo. Jefferson and Andrew Williams. They were first taken to the Mil-ford Mil-ford Poultry ranch, where they were shown around by the proprietors. Messrs Tomsick & Reisner. Here, they saw a well, fully equipped Fairbanks Fair-banks Morse pump and motor in operation, op-eration, throwing out GOO gallon of water per minute enough to amply am-ply irrigate 8 0 acreB. They saw crops of all kinds growing. At the present pres-ent time Tomsick & Reisner have the best installation in the district. Everything Ev-erything is installed to stay. Their receiving reservoir is of concrete and it is surely a satisfactory sight to see that beautiful stream of water as it leaves the eight-Inch pipe and with a graceful, upward curve pour into that receiving reservoir from which it flows out into the irrigation ditch- es and is distributed to all parts of their ranch. The party next visited the Evans and Elmer ranch. Hero another fine well was running to capacity and just across the fence Charley Baxter's Bax-ter's well was going full blast. On these ranches were seen crops of ell kinds. The two acre field of seed onions on the Evans ranch called cal-led for much favorable comment. Next, a short stop was made at the I'.ybee ranch, where rwo big outfits were putting more water on top of the ground than the visitors ever thGught there was in Utah.. As it was already dark, the party returned to town well pleased with what had been seen. From town the party was taken up to the Minersville reservoir, where they got an idea of where the valley sets its gravity water To say that the party was favorably favora-bly impressed by what was shown them is putting it mildly. One member mem-ber made the statement that on he entire trip, they had seen no tract where everything looks so favorable for farming where the soil was good, water easily and cheaply obtained, ob-tained, with transportation to market mark-et so handy. The prophecy was freely made 'hat Milford rind a bright and prosperous pros-perous future. The party Wt fnr Caliente and i'ioche shortly before midnight, very much pleased with their visit and promising to come again in the near future. |
