Electric Wheel Chairs. Electric wheel chairs similar to those employed at the Panama-Pacific international exposition last year are being used successfully in Europe for the wounded and crippled soldiers. Invariably the convalescent men prefer pre-fer to direct their own chair rather than to have someone push them about. One of tiiese chairs, which is of Swiss make and costs a smnll sum, is equipped with a one-quarter horse power motor suspended between the steering and rear wheel. Current is supplied from a battery of 13 lead plate cells hocused in three boxes beneath be-neath the seat. The battery is of 50 ampere hours capacity and provides sufficient energy for a run of thirty to forty miles. Five forward and five reverse speeds are provided. The steering mid operating mechanism is of the very simplest.
