Show PS NEW OIL FIELD NEAR UTAH-WYOMING LINE IS EXCITING LOCATORS "F. O. Freeman, promotor of a big oil drilling proposition at Lyman, near the Lincoln-Utah county line, visited in Kemmerer the latter part of last week and reports that rigs are arriving in that section and that there is an undertone of excitement that, in his mind, is going to grow from now on into a veritable oil boom for western Wyoming," says the Kemmerer Camera. "He says that anyone taking a trip over Lincoln Lin-coln and Uinta counties ninety days from now will marvel at the development develop-ment work that is being done. He Is firm in the belief that some big epoch-making strikes will be made In the western Wyoming fields by that time. "Mr. Freeman is a geologist. Ho has geological reasons for believing that oil exists in this section of the country. He drew for the writer a very interesting diagram of western Wyoming oil fields. The diagram is in the shape of a triangle, the apex of which begins in the Big Piney country, where the Cretaceous Oil company, is now at work, and the base of which lies in southern Uinta county. The triangle thus formed takes In the LaBarge and Fossil fields. "Over in Spring Valley, Uinta county, oil wells have been in operation opera-tion for several years. It is of the finest kind of gasoline oil. Mr. Freeman Free-man says that the Spring Valley wells, where oil is secured by pumping, pump-ing, is in the very edge of the western west-ern Wyoming oil belt. He feels that there is little doubt but what oil, in the middle of the belt, will be struck in flowing wells. "If an oil boom, such as Mr. Freeman Free-man graphically described to the writer, occurs in Western Wyoming, every town in this section will be benefited. However, somewhere there is going to be a metropolis spring up. It is hard to tell where this will be, whether it will be a town now in existence or whether a new oil city will grow up. But there will have to be a second Casper sorne--where in this section. The location of this depends upon several things, the most important of which is the location of the largest discoveries. "Around Lyman one rig will be in full operation by the 1st of May, and others will be getting Into position, according to Freeman. "It is reported that the Granger people are now excited over the prospects pros-pects of an oil boom. It is said that three or four wells will soon be sunk on the Bagley & Gray ranch near there and on other ranches in that vicinity. "The big Btandard rig of the La Barge company, which arrived at Opal last week, is now en route to the field of operation." Ex. |
