Show v FA11M PRODUCTS The following figures are compiled from the records of the U. S. Department De-partment of Agriculture for the years of 1914 and 1918. The ten principal crops of the U. S. are wheat, corn, oats, barley, rice, potatoes, tobacco, hay and cotton. The area devoted to these crops in 1914 was 297,000,000 acres, in 1918 326,000,000 an increase of 10 per cent. The .farm value of these crops in 1914 was $4,933,000,000 and in 1918 $10,934,000,000 an increase of 112 pt'i-cent. The total value of all the product "at the farm" was put at J 9,S:'5.ui0 in 1014 and in 1 9 1 S at $2 1,3 Mi.Oim. nun. an increase of 1 1 ."j per rr-nt. The area devoted to wheat in 1914 was T3,.j41. a.res and the crop S91.nnn.ini0 bushel-;, with a far n value of? ST S.'j vi.neu. ' Corn area in 191S, 107,494.000 acres, crop fell off to 2.5S3.0O0,000. but the farm value jumped to $3.52S : 000,000. Cotton shows a decline both in area and production. The crop in 1914 was 16,133,000 bales with a farm value of 549,036.000, while in 191S, the crop was but 11.700.000 bales. But the farm value had gone to $1,616,207,000. ' |
