ARMSTRONG, Federal Food Administrator Admin-istrator for Utah. "Washington, D. C, Oct. 17. "Mr. W. W. Armstrong, Federal Food Adm'r for Utah, Salt Lake City. "A statement has appeared in the Chicago papers that we have the intention in-tention of reducine hoe: nrices to ten dollars per hundred. The Chicago advices are absolutely untrue and do not represent the opinion or the proposed pro-posed action of the Food Administration Adminis-tration which will take no steps to jeopardize livestock producer inter- j ests. I "All our powers will be, used to keep prices at which allied and governmental gov-ernmental purchases are made on a plane that gives an assured return of cost and profit to producers of meat animals. In o'ur opinion the best market obtainable for the present corn crop of the country will be through livestock. We need increased in-creased production of beef and pork. The only way to secure this increase i will be by a profit on the production. j (Signed) HERBERT HOOVER. |
