Show . SENATOR TOM WATSOV Political circles are koenlv interested inter-ested in the coming of Tom Watson, as Senator from Georgia. Mr. Watson Wat-son has been a political tornado in the South for a good many years. His election is on the Democratic ticket, hut he starts in decidedly at outs with his party upon their national na-tional issues. It is recalled that Senator Tillman roared around the South until he got into the Senate. whc.-; le roared roar-ed some more for a while; but finally final-ly he berame as tame as a kitten. Jeff Davis from Arkansas roared a good deal at first, but be subsided like the rest of them. The Senate has manv great minds, and no one has ever made any headway head-way against Its methods by processes process-es of roaring, or barnstorming. Senator Sen-ator Watson is said to be a very able man, and if he can :'nt roudeararara man and if he can introduce a strong personality in, the Senate, barked by a determination to look a little closer to the nuhlb- interest than the average Senator has been .doing, he may "fill the long felt want There Is a well-founded ronvctlon In Washington that the Senate Is long on political interests and short on consideration of the public welfare. wel-fare. The fiery Watson may help put the reverse act-ion on this state of affairs. If he does he will he a fortunate acquisition to the Upper legislative body.
