Show MURDOCK AFTER I MOREFTN ANCES I Milfonl Helping, by Advertising, to Get Out the School Annual Tuesday, Dr. Gardner, R. Maeser and Gerrit de Jong left for Salt Lake, where they met with the Church School Board of Education. The j object of this visit was to secure a larger appropriation of funds for the school. The five dollars offered by the Student Body to the class selling fifty i tickets, was not captured. However, the classes did some energetic work and as a result the dance last Friday night was a wonderful success. The music furnished by the school orchestra orch-estra was splendid and many report that they had the "time of their life." While in Milford last week, Karl Woolsey visited the News, where he was cordially received. The school appreciates the support'we have received re-ceived so far from Milford's business busi-ness houses and we are certain that they will not be disappointed in us when our Year Book is completed. The Hotel Atkin has subscribed for a full page and many other places hava givn us a half page in the Year Book. R. Maeser is well pleased with the number of men students enrolled for the Missionary Course and they are determined to really do something along this line. The students are fast recovering from the effects of the exams last week and we are able to breathe a little easier now. Tonight our hoop men will clash with the Milfordites in another league game. "As our faith is so shall it be," therefore we are going to win. The less said about the game with Hinckley, the better. We offer no excuses for the reason of defeat, but that game with Minersville last Saturday Sat-urday night! O my! As yet the final results of the game are not definite. Wait until we get a chance at the M. H. S. on a floor where our boys can at least have "elbow room" and the score will be pretty definite. Some of the Murdock students motored mo-tored over to Minersville to "root" for the team the other night and they did some effective yelling, ask the girls how their throats feel and they'll tell you. Next time you see Jen. have him tell you why he left the basket ball suits in Minersville. It muBt have been because of "that girl." The H. E. C. will give their annual an-nual ball February 16th. Valentines will be the prevailing decorations and the girls say they will get you a valentine if you'll be present on that occasion. The Philomatheans took up the life of Hawthorne and some of his writings for their club work today. Debating is the next in order now at Murdock and the inter-class debates de-bates will begin next wee!;. Many new debaters will make their initial appearance this year and so we are anxiously awaiting for the time to come. Zoe Robinson, . Correspondent for The News. |
