Show Water Outlook Is j Considered Goodj i The outlook for irrigation water ; this season in the Beaver river ; basin is better than for any year since 1937, according to Atril 1 snow survey results released Wednesday Wed-nesday by Forest Ranger H. M. Christensen. Measurements were taken on three snow courses: Merchant val. j ley, at an elevation of 8200 feet; I Otter lake near Puffer lake, 9300 Ifeet, and Big Flat. 10,000 feet, i At Merchant valley there was 1 46 inches of snow with a water .content of 18.2 inches. Figures j f or previous years are: 1940, 31.3S inches snow and 12.5 water con-Itent; con-Itent; 1939, 14.4 and 6.13; 1938, 42.fr and 14.6; 1937, 52.4 and 16.8. I Otter lake had 58.5 inches of i snow, with a water content of 20 i inches. For previous years, fig-i fig-i ures compare as follows: 1910, 59.3 and 20.7; 1937, 74.5 and 23. Snow on Big Flat measured 72.1 i inches, with a water content of 1 23.9 inches. Comparisons for the I previous vears show: 1940, 59.5 and 20.8;' 1939, 44.4 and 13.7; 1 1938, 70.7 and 23.4; 1937, 89.4 and 26.4. j Ed Larson, proprietor of the Puffer lake resort,' and Wilson Murdock, Beaver business man, accompanied Ranger Christensen to make the survey. They' made the trip on skis. |
