Show High School Notes j School Carnival Is Pltjnned On Friday, November 19, the annual school carnival will be held j in the hi rh school gymnasium.! The name or theme of this year's ! carnival will he "The Hit Parade," j end each cli.-s will choose a song' title and b"ild a booth around it. I This yet'.r, there will be less booths and selling materials, but , the students are putting f orth '. every effort to make it a success, ! and have this crrnival, as much; as possible, lihe those in the past. The carniv:! was originally used; to raise money to finance a year book; but since there is p.1 scarcity of materials, the money raised will be used for entertainment, materials, or War Bonds for the ; entire student body. j Motion Pictures Will Be Given . The main form of entertainment j that will be given this year is a motion pictrre rrn'cct. The student stu-dent council hn "ho.-en one for each month, and : 11 types are to be shown. On October 23, the first of this spries was given. The title was "If I Were King." The 1-ading characters were Ronald Coleman, Easil Rathbone and Frances Dee. This show was very interesting, and, rlthough the screen was poor and the auditorium wasn't dark enough, it was enjoyed by everyone. every-one. The next show will be given November 24. Its title is "The Buccaneers," with Frederic March and Akim Timeroff. When this show is given, we hope to have our auditorium darkened, so that we can get more out of the picture. pic-ture. First Lyceum Is Given On Thursday, October 28, the lirst .Lyceum number was given to the student body. It was a motion picture in technicolor with title of "North Atlantic Coastline." This movie w.sis a stirring story of men and their shins along one of the most interesting and picturesque water fronts in the world. The man who accompanied the film was also the photographer, and he gave a very interesting lecture. The student council has planned several more of these lyceum numbers, and it is hoped that they will be ?.'s good as the ones we have had in the past years. Student Council System Is Used The student body of Milford high sch.i-1 this year is controlled by an able bodied group of students stu-dents with Mrs. Williams as student stu-dent body adviser, and Junior Kirk as stude.nt body president. Each clfss has elected officers, and each Monday afternoon at 2:30 one of these officers attends a meeting or council, where all school problems are discussed and solved. The class officers are as follows: fol-lows: Senior CHss Albert Smith, president; Botv Daidson, vice-president; vice-president; Phyllis Rollins, secretary-treasurer; J. M. Freshman Class Joe Murdock, president; Crrol Myers, vice-president; Robert Davis, secretary-treasurer. We are sure these students wi'l do their utmost to make the school year -of 1P43-44 ore to be remembered. remem-bered. We hope that the townspeople towns-people will cooperate :'nd help the school as much as possible. Hilltop Echo Will Appear The Hilltop Echo staff members, mem-bers, under Phyllis Lymn as editor edi-tor and Mrs. Williams as adviser, announce the publishing of their first issue for this year Friday, November 5, 1943. The staff has been fully organized organ-ized since the beginning of the I school year, but the mimeograph ' machine has not been in working condition. Following the repairing repair-ing of that machine last week, the students will, at once, begin the publication of their paper. New Pep Club Is Formed The Pep club is very excited and enthusiastic about the way it is i starting out. There -.re 50 mem- bers, headed by Phyllis Rollins as president, Patsy Smith as vice-president, vice-president, and La Ree Ma'"shcll as secretary. The club members are having new uniforms, and they can htvrd-I htvrd-I ly wait to show them off at the ! first league basketball game. I The object of the club this yeaT i will be to brine some new yells ' and songs into the school, and to keep pep, spirit, and loyalty in the student body. So fur, the pep assemblies have been great, and we are sure it will improve as the year goes by. The Pep club initiation party Wi.s very successful with all the r.ew girls being initiated in a i candle light ceremony, followed by j refreshments.
