Show War Fund Drive Begins Next Week i Within less than a week, the United War Fund appeal will be i underway in Beaver county and all cities and towns and rural com- ' munities throughout the state. The appeal is one of the most important im-portant ever put before the peo-! pie seeking their most generous response. From seventeen national and international agencies, on the war front, home front and in devastated devastat-ed countries of Europe and Asia, the cry has gone up for the people peo-ple of America to "let their hearts decide." Not only in Utah but throughout the United States the appeal is underway, under aus-picies aus-picies of the National War fund, of which the United War fund is the Utah unit. From President Roosevelt down, leaders in all walks of life exalted ex-alted and humble haive pleaded with the people to open their hearts and their pocketbooks. And it is certain that the people of our community will rally to the call and fill our quota1 plus. What is the National War fund our own United War fund of Utah? It has been stated before, but it bears repetition: Under one appeal have been gathered -the separate campaigns of the 17 war and home front agencies. They are U S O (recreational (rec-reational and entertainment centers cen-ters for servicemen in America and abroad, and shows for the men or. the fighting fronts and in camps), United Seamen's Service, War Prisoners Aid, Russian Relief, Re-lief, United China Relief, British War Relief society, Greek War Relief association, Polish War Relief, Re-lief, United Yugoslav Relief fund, French Relief fund, Belgian War Relief society, United Czechoslovak Czechoslo-vak Relief, Queen Wilhelmina1 (Continued on last page) v War Fund Drive (Continued from first page) fund, Norwegian Relief, Friends of Luxembourg, Refugee Relief Trustees, United States Committee Commit-tee for the Care of European Children. Thus, with the one appeal, ; donors are asked to give once for i all 17 agencies. It's a simplified ' arrangement and a more efficient one. The huge national budget of $25,000,000 will be divided upon a br.'sis of requirements that will be fair to all and adequate for their needs. Of this quota Utah's part is $410,000. i The specific purpose of the fund is three-fold: (1) For the home front to preserve the things we are fighting for. (2) For the fighting front to make life more bearable for those who are winning win-ning the fight. (3) For the front of our allies to keep them aUvfe , and fighting. I The contribution of every man, ' woman and child in this community commu-nity will be used wisely and effectively ef-fectively toward the great purpose of winning the war and winning i . the peace; for the peace, as well as the war, must be won unless other great wars are to follow 1 this one. And to win the peace, the morale of the world's people must be maintained not destroyed destroy-ed through the want of food, : medicine md rehabilitation, .as ; conquered i reas are freed. "More will live the more we j we give !" More to live with a : love of peace. But the burden of the moment in this nation-wide appeal i s Americal's,: Utah's , ours! ' v i |
