Hog receipts at the Los Angeles 1 Union Stock Yards continued light during the week but supplies at eastern markets were heavier than in recent weeks and prices at those points sagged rather sharply. This, together with the extension of ceil- j ing prices to hogs weighing up to 270 pounds tended to give the market mar-ket a rather irregular tone, with the close on a steady to 25c lower basis. Tops held at the $15.75 mark but some hogs similar to those that were recently making ! the price sold down under closer grading, while choice hogs scaling above 240 pounds cleared at $15.35 and above. .Sows closed on a $14.25 to $14.75 basis. Feeder pigs bulked at $15 to $15.50 but a few choice vaccinated lots reached $16.25 to $16.50. Sheep and lambs held fully steady. Best lambs offered sold at $13.50 ' to $14, lightly sorted.
