Show Mrs. Hortunse Hardy Riee of Baldwin Park, California, was in Milford last week for a visit with her mother, Mrs. M. 0. Hardy, and other relatives and friends. 'Grandma" Hardy returned to California with Mrs. Rice. Mr. and Mrs. Sol Angell and two children of Lynndyl were visitors in Milford over Sunday at the home of Mr. Angell's daughter, Mrs. Dick Johnson, and family. While here they were joined by Mrs. Josephine Holt Angell of Enterprise, wife of Staff Sergeant James Angell, who, a few days previously, hud been reported wounded "somewhere in France." Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tanner and daughter Adele of Las Vegas, .Ne-j vada, returned to their home Mon- day after visiting in Milford over! the week-end with relatives and friends. While here they were j' house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Tanner.. Mrs. Ward Thompson Thursday! of last week returned to Cheyenne, j Wyoming where she has been living liv-ing near her husband since he was sent to Fort Warren for training. Accompanying her to Wyoming were the Thompsons' little daughter daugh-ter and Mrs. Thompson's mother, Mrs. E. D. Lyman. Patty Lou Smith entertained six little friends at her home Friday afternoon of last week, in honor of her eleventh birthday. Refresh-j ments were served by her mother,' Mrs. Kenneth Smith, and Paltyj received many lovely gifts. Those j enjoying the afternoon were Verna Treat, Delane Johnson, Tommy James, Sonny Brisloe, Eddie and Nancy Smith. The Lady Firemen held their regular meeting Friday night of last week when they initiated three new members. After the meeting cards were enjoyed with Gladys Bird, Norma Edwards, Margaret Lund and Laura Bradfield being the entertainment committee. At bridge Eva Banks won the high points prize and WSlma Weston the high honors prize, while May Colborn received the consolation prize. At '"500" Kate McDonald! received high points prize, Vera Waite the second high points prize and Audrey Skillicorn the conso-I conso-I lation prize. ! V I Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Eldridge and throe children, formerly of Salt Lake City, last Saturday moved into the former Sam Cline residence, which they purchased recently. Mr. Eldridge has been busy assembling equipment for a new jewelry shop which he will open up in a few days in the Palmer Palm-er building adjoining the Milford cafe. Mrs. Alvin Skillicorn entertained members of her Pinochle club at her home Wednesday evenng. At the same time a stork shower was given for Mrs. Jay Christen-sen. Christen-sen. Those present were Mrs. Grace Goodcfellow, Mrs. Dora Miller, Mil-ler, Mrs. Evelyn Brannon, Mrs. Juanita Melton, Mrs. Jean HickT man, Mrs. Lorelei Dawson and Mrs. Christensen. The-prizes were received by Mrs. Dawson, Mrs. Brannon and Mrs. Miller. Gordon E. West, who has been a patient at the Milford hospital since last August, recovering from a broken back and ankle, was able to leave the hospital Tuesday and he and Mrs. West are now living liv-ing in the Kohler bungalow leased to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Campbell, who are temporarily located at Lynndyl. He is able to walk some and expects to be able to drive their car in a couple of weeks. The many friends and acquaintances acquaint-ances these good people have made during their short residence in Milford are happy with them in Mr. West's recovery. j The members of Escalante Auxiliary Auxi-liary 1546 of Veterans of Foreign Wars are looking forward to the official visit of Department President Presi-dent Minnie A. Gordon of Salt Lake City. She will arrive Sunday and will be the guest of District President Ethel Smith while here. Mrs. Smith will entertain Monday at a luncheon in Mrs. Gordon's honor with past presidents and department de-partment officers being the guests. Tuesday, November 14, a banquet for all the members of the Auxiliary Auxi-liary will be held in the L. D. S. church at 6:30 p.m., followed by a. school of instruction at the I. O. O. F. hall. The official visit committee includes Ethel Smith, Florence Barnes and Edna Williams, Wil-liams, and the banquet committee members are M&gdelena White, Margaret Murdock and Dora Smithson. Mrs. David Reese entertained members of her sewing club Thursday Thurs-day evening of last week. Those present were Mrs. Gus Fothering-ham, Fothering-ham, Mrs. Harold Baxter, Mrs. Max Baxter, Mrs. Max Root, Mrs. Robert Tomsik, Mrs. Vance Fisher, Fish-er, Mrs. Willis Whitbeck, Mrs. Bud Handley, Mrs. Clyde Griffiths Grif-fiths and Mrs. Walt McCulley. A number of women friends of Mrs. O. R. Smith helped her celebrate cele-brate her birthday Saturday afternoon after-noon of last week. Bridge was played and a dainty luncheon was served by Mrs. Smith. Those present pre-sent were Mrs. J. M'. Williams, Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen, Mrs. F. A. Bingham, Mrs. Eugene Pitchforth, Mrs. William Cochrane, Mrs. Merrill Mer-rill Edwards, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. J. H. Weston, Mrs. Nora Cross and Mrs. J. H. Weston. At bridge Mrs. Nielsen received the prize for high points and Mrs. Pitchforth for high honors, while Mrs. Cochrane received the consolation prize. Mrs. Smith was the recipient of many lovely gifts. v |
