Show Lose Close Game To Beaver Squad After the Beaver team's 25-22 defeat of the Milford basketball team January 22 on the Milford Mil-ford floor, it took a dyed-in-tthe-wool optimist to figure out a victory vic-tory in the return contest for Milford Mil-ford on the Beaver floor. But the Tigers, Friday night of last week, came so near doing this very thing, as to having everyone Milford and Beaver fan alike holding his breath. The score was tied 5-all at the end of the first quarter and Beaver Bea-ver led by a single point at the half. However, playing the strong third quarter which has become characteristic of Coach DelMoine Chrisjtensen's charges, the Tigers were able to overcome that lead and snare an extra point for themselves, to make the score 22-21 in Milf ord's favor at the end of the third quarter. They were not able to hold to that pace in the last canto, however, and Bea. ver took the game by a score of 29-28. Except in critical games, the Milford team members have been able to run up a good percentage in foul throw conversions this league season, but in the tough games, probably because of increased in-creased tension, they haven't been able to do much more than get near the 50 per cent mark. This was the case Friday night when, if they had been able to do a little bit better than 50 per cent, they could have snagged the game. As it was, the Tigers converted 8 out of 17 trials, or 47 per cent, while their Beiaver opponents converted convert-ed 7 out of 13 trials, for 54 per cent.
