Show (Red Cross Unit Doing Great Work The Milford Red Cross chapter has received the following letter of appreciation from the field di- j rector, American Red Cross, at the ! Salt Lake City Army Air base. j Dated February 22, 1943, it reads ! as follows: j "Dear Mrs. Cottrell: "This is to express our very deep appreciation of the gift of ditty bags and slippers which you have so kindly donated for the welfare of the soldiers at this "base. "This has been a yery noble and pat"otic deed on your part in sponsoring such a worthwhile pro. gram. By helping the soldier, you are helping him to fight and doing your part to win this war. "We wish you could see the smiles on the faces of the soldiers when they receive these articles. Often they make such comments as 'The Red Cross is doing more for the soldier than anyone else.' "Again we wish to thank you for the thing's which you provide through the iRed Cross." Production Chairman Blertha Cottrell has received letters of appreciation ap-preciation on the following shipments: ship-ments: 50 bedside bags shipped to the Ogden Air Port, Hill Field; 25 housewives bags, shipped to Camp Kearns; 25 unfitted bags, 25 pairs ibedroom slippers to the United States Army Air base, Salt Lake City; and 25 bed pan covers and 25 hot water bottle covers to March Field, California. All material was furnished by the local chapter. For refugees this chapter has sent 265 men's hospital bed shirts, 72 girls' gowns, 145 crib blankets, 27 ladies' sweaters, 16 children's Lath robes, 36 boys' shirts, 112 women's gowns, 16 women's bed jackets, 36 children's "bed jackets, 58 girls' dresses, 51 men's bath robes, 75 men's suits of pajamas, 89 ladies' slips, and 52 layettes, each layette containing 28 pieces and one dozen safety pins. For the armed forces the chapter chap-ter has sent: 25 sweaters, 5 pair gloves, 8 helmets, 6 cap mufflers and 4 mufflers. For the government hospitals: 185 sewing kits, with needles, thread, buttons and safety pins; $5 ditty bags, unfilled; 171 bedside "bags, 38 hot water bottle covers, 13 ice bag covers, 12 cushion covers, 25 bed pan covers and 25 pairs of slippers. Also, there have been sent: 8 "Cnristmas bags, and 100 ditty bags, each with playing cards, cigarets, soap and soap box, shoe laces, shoe polishing cloth, paper, pencil, envelopes, razor blades and a sewing kit.
