Show TOWN BOARD APPROVES PLAN FOR NEW WELLS AND STANDBY ENGINE The Town Board took steps to assure adequate water supply for Milford Thursday night when they approved the Town Planning Boards No. 1 project of sinking two new wells and installing a stand-by pump for emergency operation. op-eration. The other planning board recommendations rec-ommendations were approved, with the "order of preference" slightly revised, and the group directed to submit detailed plans, costs and other preliminary data at the next meeting of the board on March 21. The trustees placed a new municipal muni-cipal building second on the list of town improvements, followed in order by a new swimming pool, improvement of parks and construction con-struction of softball' diamond and tennis courts, and, No. 5, cemetery improvements. James D. Williams, ' who was present as a guest, facetiously suggested sug-gested the town board list a municipal muni-cipal power plant as project No. 6, and was referred to the town planning plan-ning board by the trustees. Mr. Williams suggested that the town board appoint a commission to study the matter of municipal power, stating that vast public power projects were being planned for this general area, and a municipal muni-cipal plant would be able to buy power from the public-owned systems sys-tems for as little as 5 mills per kilowatt hour. The plant, Mr. Williams stated, would be operated "by Utah coal, hauled over Utah railways, mined by Utah citizens, and serve Utah people." The board tabled 'the matter until a later meeting, to give the trustees time to "think over" Mr. Williams' proposal. .Mr. V. Waddoups, construction foreman for the Town of Milford, pesented a bill for $36.22, which was approved and ordered paid, covering total expenses incident to the recent gravel-hauling project. 1512 yards of gravel were hauled during the three days of activity, and at state figures the cost to the state for hauling gravel the bill would, have been $672.40. Mr. Waddoups also reuqested purchase by the town of equipment to keep the streets in usable condition, con-dition, and was instructed to present pre-sent to the town board a definite request for certain pieces of equipment. equip-ment. Morris, former town marshal, mar-shal, was authorized a two-weeks paid vacation, which Mr. Morris had earned by virtue of his services during 1945. A proferred exclusive lease for gascline and oil services at the airport, in favor of Shell Oil Co., was referred to the town attorney for revisions. |
