Show NEWS NOTES ABOUT RAILROADERS By MRS. G. L GRIBBLE (Phone 14-J) Mr. and Mrs. James P. Holms entertained a group of their friends on New Year's Eve witn a delightful party. Refreshmen'.s -ere served and the guests enjoyed en-joyed a good lively game of bridge and pinochle. At 11 o'clock a delicious deli-cious turkey supper was serve:!. At midnight the group sang Auld Lang Syne and wished each other a very happy New Year. Those enjoying the Holms' hospitality were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lee, Mr md Mrs. Grover Cuddy, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Colburn, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy James, Mrs. O. A. Steen-?ock, Steen-?ock, Mrs. Edgar Moore, Mrs. Lois iVaddingham and Mrs. Owen K. Smith. The O. R. Smiths held open house m New Year's Day and served old-ashioned old-ashioned Southern recipe egg nog ;nd fruit cake. Personalized paper lapkins and match folders were ised as favors. Thirty-one guests ailed. Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Bradshaw jnterlained the W. L. Carlton family fam-ily on New Year's Day. Mrs. Frank Thompson has just eturned from the Cedar City hospital. hos-pital. Her condition is improving latisfactorily. Miss Joyce Mellor of McCammon, Idaho, is visiting the Grant Mel-ors. Mel-ors. Joyce has spent several sum-ners sum-ners in Milford and has many Mends here. Phyllis Lyman, daughter of Mr. ind Mrs. Ezra D. Lyman, has returned re-turned to the State University. She is a freshman. Mr. and Mrs. K. B. Coon had as aouse guests over New Years, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Hickman and son Sammy of Beaver. New Year's dinner guests included the Hick-mans Hick-mans and Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Ferguson, Fer-guson, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. McDonald Mc-Donald and sons Bill and Vaughn. Mrs. P. E. Crum and Ella May, and Paul Jr., spent the Christmas holidays at Rock Springs, Wyo., with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Woodrow. . Mr. and Mrs. Robert Melton have had their two sons home for Christmas. Pvt. James L. Griffiths is in the air corps. Lt. and Mrs. Walter Griffiths are from Albuquerque, Albu-querque, N. M. The lieutenant has left for his new station at Salinas, Kan., and Mrs. Griffiths is staying with the Meltons until her husband hus-band can secure suitable living quarters. The McCulley family met at the Walter McCulley home for games and refreshments on New Year's Eve. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Charley McCulley and family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Don Young and Jeannie, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Posey and family, Mrs. Charles Beard and Mrs. Nell Ralston of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Ralston is Mrs. McCulley's mother. She has spent the last three weeks here with her daughter. Mrs. S. E. Pitchforth entertained her club with a hot dinner served at 7:30, followed by bridge. Those present were Cora Jones, Dora Smithson, Bertha Hickman, Lena Morris, Garnetta Hollis Fin Rickerson. Katherine Crosby was an invited guest Mr. and Mrs. Crosby are leaving for St. George and Arizona to visit Mr. Crosby's relatives before entering pre-medic school. Mrs. Crosby is a daughter of Mr and Mrs. S. E. Pitchforth. - Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lund have had as week-end visitors Mr. and Mrs. cullen Lockhart and Carl Lund, all of Salt Lake City. Mrs Lockhart and Carl Lund are a ris-ter ris-ter and brother of Howard Lund. R. M. 3c Jan-, Hickmn husband of Mrs. Jea:; i'-o-i Hie'-' man, has been at home on olive rjver the holidays. He experts to be stationed in the States on returning re-turning to his base, and expects a Jischarge in February. |
