Completing ' 25 years' service with the Unio:i : j w Mr. Smith Pacific last July 30, Mr. Smith, "Okey" to the boys h has worked with for the past quarter-century, was presented his 25-year pin, evidence evi-dence of 25 years' continuous .nembership in the B. of L. F. & E., on December 27 at a supper-dancing party in the local I. O. O. F. hall, which also was in celebration celebra-tion of his fiftieth birth anniversary. anni-versary. Mr. Earl Gleason, introduced by-Alton by-Alton Smith, president of O. W. Karns lodge No. 439, B.. of L. F. & E., made the presentation and Mrs. Smith presented her husband with a lovely onyx ring, a birthdaj-gift birthdaj-gift from the family. The guesU then sang "Happy Birthday" as Mr. and Mrs. Smith waltzeU around the dance floor. With Mr. Gleason as master of ceremonies at the supper, appropriate appro-priate remarks were made by lodge executives, old timers, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Garnetta Hollis, president of the ladies' society, and Mrs. Mae Colburn spoke for the ladies. "Dkpv" made his first trip as a railroader on July 30, 1920, on the j old hand-tamped, coalburner, engine en-gine No. 3603. O. A. Steenbock was his engineer. In 1937 he was "set up" to engineer, joining the B. of L. E., but retaining his membership in the firemen's organization. There s only one other 25-year B. of L. F. & E. member on the Milford Mil-ford run, Mr. Nate E. Smith, and :ot more than 50 in Utah. About 60 Firemen and their ladies attended the celebration honoring ilr. Smith's "initiation." The com-nittce com-nittce in charge of arrangements ,-as Leroy Bird, R. W. Brewer, Carney Fotheringham, and Alton I I'mith. In charge of supper arrangements ar-rangements were Mrs. Eva Banks. Christy Lyman, Mrs. Ruby Ash-worth, Ash-worth, Gladys Bird and Mrs. Garnetta Gar-netta Hollis. i |
