Show I Speaker Discusses Change of Sabbath The Seventh Day Sabbath which was given to Adam in the Garden of Eden is the same Sabbath that Jesus observes," said Norman Eckman in his address Tuesday night at the Firemen's hall. Reading from Genesis 2:1-2, he I showed that the Sabbath was giv-jen giv-jen to mankind as a memorial of creation. From John 1:10 and lle-j lle-j brews 1:1,2, it is clearly pointed out, he said, that Christ was tlu Creator of this world. "Because He was the creator He also had the power to give man the Sib-bath," Sib-bath," he continued. "Into the seventh day of the week Jesus put a special blessing," bless-ing," he said, "and that blessing will always remain in the Sabbath becauso the Sabbath will also be kept in Heaven according to Isaiah 66:22,23." From Matthew 5:17-19 was read Christ's own words, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets; proph-ets; 1 am not come to desroy but to fulfill." In the 18th verse we are told, not even "one jot or tittle" tit-tle" shall pass from the law. A "jot" is the smallest Hebrew character char-acter and the "tittle" is a small part of a letter. J "Right in the heart of the Law of God," said Mr. Eckman, "is found the commandment in which we acknowlege God as our Creator and worthy of our praise and worship. wor-ship. H reads, "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shall thou labor and do all thy work; bub the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God; in it thou shall not do any work, thou nor thy son nor thy daughter, 'thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, maidser-vant, nor thy cattle nor thy stranger stran-ger that is within thy gates, for ' in six days the Lord made Heaven add earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day, wherefore the Iord blessed the Sabath day ami hallowed it." Exod. 20:8-11. "According to every dictionary and encyclopedia, Saturday is the seventh day of the week," he said, I "and God has set it aside as a special spe-cial day for man, by putting into it a special blessing." The speaker also made it plain that the Sabbath was not given just for the Jewish people. "The Sabbath was given at creation," he 'said, "and we do not find any Jews 'until 2500 years after this time, so the Sabbath cannot be called a Jewish day." In closing, the speaker showed that from Eden to the present time there have always been .Sabbath-keeping Christians who worshipped wor-shipped God on the seventh day of the week.
