Show f looking backward I jrrAxA''!rJ?- Items of interest taken from the I fefl j) Fils of the Milford News of -D Fifteen years ago. this week I Ted Thompson, president of the Beaver County Fish and Game club, had reported work would begin be-gin soon up toward Kents lake. Cy Davis, district game warden, had reported that he had 750,000 small trout fry in the hatchery, ready to plant early in the spring. There were three varieties, about 250,000 rainbow; 50,000 German brown, and 450,000 eastern brook. Most of these were to be planted in Beaver mountains, some to go to Iron county and some to be planted in Minersville canyon. Members of the Jolly Stitchers club had been entertained by Mrs. Antone Johnson. Needlework and a social time had made the afternoon after-noon a pleasant one. The guests were Mrs. J. A. Root, Mrs. O. W. Carlson, Mrs. Lottie Smyth, Mrs. Ralph Quayle, Mrs. John Pitch-forth, Pitch-forth, Mrs. Fred Levi, Mrs. Karl Levi, Mrs. James Lang, Mrs. E. H. Bird, Mrs. Scott Tanner, Mrs. Eb Tanner, Mrs. Nels Schow and Mrs. Jack Weston. Work by the Beaver Valley Oil company on a new oil well north of Milford was progressing rapidly. The big rig was all set and roofed in and pipe and other materials were on the ground ready to start work as soon as the drillers arrived ar-rived from Texas. The members of the P. H. club had been pleasantly entertained at the home of Mrs. Ross Smith, to celebrate the birthdays of three club members, Mrs. Joe Smith, Mrs. L. G. Clay and Miss Ardath Johnson. Others present were Mrs. Jack McKeon, Mrs. Charles Ford, Mrs. Maurice Johnson and Mrs. Ralph Quayle. Mrs. Ida Root, leader of the M. E. church choir, had entertained entertain-ed members and their wives and husbands at a very enjoyable evening eve-ning of games and music. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Bailey and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cottrell, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tribole, I Mr. and Mrs. Homer Root, Misses j Etta and Orma Devine, Miss Mary I Roper, Misses Gladys and Eva Coleman, Mrs. Lee Gray, Jack Hillary, Miss Beryl Young and Miss Vera McAllister. Merrill Miller had gone to Salt Lake City to be with his wife and ! other members of the James family who were called to be there on account of the serious opera-! tion performed on Walter James, j Mr. James was reported getting' along nicely after a successful operation. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cottrell and Roy Carlson had gone to Salt Lake City in the Cottrell car to purchase football suits for the high school football team. April 14 had been designated as "Cemetery Clean-up Day", j Everybody was asked to help i clean up lots, driveways and streets around the cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kinney had purchased the J. L. Griffiths residence resi-dence on South Utah street. Owners of new cars were Aaron Smith, C. W. Johnson, Arthur Rvan. T. D. Goff and L. A. Tom-sik. Tom-sik. Miss Dorothy Quayle had celebrated cele-brated her birthday with a theatre party. Her guests were Helen Bird, Barbara Johnson, Faye Mc-Ghie, Mc-Ghie, Inez Griffiths and Verda Clements. |
