Show LIONS NOMINATE NEW OFFICERS Lion President Vance Fisher keynoted the coming year's Lion activities Thursday night with a well-prepared address on "Teamwork," "Team-work," which was heartily endorsed by the members present. Nomination of officers for the period was reported by the nominating nomi-nating committee, chairmaned by J. C. Smith. O .W. Evans was proposed pro-posed for president, with W. G. White selected for the first vice presidency, and Ben Hillman as second vice president, if the recommendations recom-mendations of the committee are approved at the election in June. Elwood Jefferson was slated to be- retainea as secretary, with retiring re-tiring President Vance Fisher, Lion Evans, M. I. Walters, Sam Cline and J. C. Smith as board of directors. di-rectors. Lion Lawrence Eldridge "needed more experience," the chairman believed, and should be retained as itailtwister, with Lion Bob Tomsik moving into the liontamer spot vacated va-cated by Ben Hillman. A vote of confidence in the retiring re-tiring president was moved by Lion Joe Murdock and approved by the .club. Lion Evans reported that the county commissioners had divided the airport moneys remaining from the county airport tax, Milford receiving re-ceiving $600 from the fund. Lion Jefferson reported that investigations in-vestigations into the activity on highway 21 would be continued, but present indications are that only five miles will be paved immedi-aely, immedi-aely, further hard-surfacing being help up pending approval of the U. S. bureau of public roads. George Dunn, manager of the Golden Reef mine, was welcomed as a new member. |
