Show LOOKING BACKWARD ems of Interest from the Files of The News of Fifteen Years Ago This Week. Plans for a tea to be held this week were made at a meeting of the Business and Professional Women at the Atkin Hotel last Monday evening. Mrs. Erma Gillies, Miss Veronica Davis and Mrs. Louise Campbell were appointed by Mrs. Anna J. Atkin, president of the organization, to make arrangements ar-rangements for the tea, to which the public will be invited. It was announced at the meeting meet-ing that Mrs. Campbell will conduct con-duct a kindergarten in Milford this summer. "The Pioneer Mother," represented represent-ed by Orina Carlson, Tommy Mitchell Mit-chell and Patsie Smith, was the float that won first award in the Forty-Niners parade Friday afternoon. after-noon. The float entered by the American Legion Auxiliary was designated to represent the statue, ihe Pioneer Mother, that conveys .'.ccurately the courage and spirit of the women who played so important im-portant a pant in the settling of the west. The Milford BasebaU Club will play a practice game with Cedar City Sunday at Cedar, manager Pratt Root announced yesterday. Among those who answered the call for players last week were Barney Fotheringham, Spenct Schow, Jess Done, Shadow White, Roy White, Max Root, Lewis Davis, Da-vis, Tom Schow, Tom James and Leo Fotheringham. Manager Root is optimistic in reviewing the prospects for a win. ning season and with the jfood material ma-terial available believes that he can whip together a credible team. A number of members of the Milford Mil-ford Valley Gun Club turned out Sunday afternoon to shoot several rounds of singles and one of doubles, dou-bles, and in spite of unfavorable weather conditions made fairly good records. Dan Davis took both the singles '.nd doubles. Schow followed him 'n the doubles, hitting 13 birds, while Ray Beck rated second in the singles with 17. Lou Williams, Wayne Richards and Tom Mastros were the other sportsmen shooting at the range. The Nifty Neede Sewing club niel at the home of Mrs. E. H. Birc. and made a quilt for their hostes- After completing the quilt, refreshments re-freshments were served to th Mesdames Blanche Bowman, Eva Bowman, Hazel Christensen, Jessie Frazier, Margaret Miller. Cora Jones, Ruby Patterson, Theresa Pitchforth, Rita Tanner, Sarah Tanner, Annie Taylor, Myrtle Trib-ole Trib-ole and Edna Baker. Louella Bird, Norman Andrews, Lucille Frazier, Ken Weston, Maud Myers, Tom Schow, Frank Carter and Hannora Hutchins enjoyed a weiner roast Monday evening at Minersville canyon.
