Show Owen Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Smith, who joined the navy some six weeks a0, is home on a ten-day leave. John Grimshaw, who is attending attend-ing a business college in. Salt Xalce City, spent Thanksgiving in Mil-ford Mil-ford with home folks. Frank Tribole, another 1940 Mil-ford Mil-ford high school graduate who is attending the Westminster college in Salt Lake City, was home for the Thanksgiving holidays. Word was received here Wednesday Wed-nesday of the birth of a fine baby girl, born to Mr. and Mrs. W. J. S k e 1 d o n of Albu-querque, New Mexico. Mrs. Skeldon was the former Ranee Fernley of Milford. Dan Gillies, a student of the U. of U. this tyear, was home for the Thanksgiving holidays. He was accompanied here by Del Madsen, who was a guest of Miss Marie Gillies over the week-end. Jay Jeffers, a former student at the Milford high school, now residing re-siding in Salt Lake City and attending at-tending school at the University of Utah, was visiting friends in Milford over the week-end. Among the students from the U. S. A. C. at Logan who spent the Thanksgiving holidays here with- home folks were Bob Mur-dock, Mur-dock, Bud Williams, Hughes Williams, Wil-liams, Stanley Hughes and Marvin Bond. Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Koch returned return-ed home from Richfield last Friday Fri-day after spending Thanksgiving with their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd B. Hansen. Wihile there Mr. Koch also attended attend-ed to business matters for the Tel-luride Tel-luride Power company. Claude F. Weight of Spring-vine, Spring-vine, an expert piano tuner, arrived ar-rived in Milford Sunday for a short visit at the home of his son, Bert H. Weight, Tri-State Lumber Lum-ber company branch manager. While here the elder Mr. Weight attended to several tuning jobs. Miss Virginia Baxter and the Misses Maxine and Shirley Alt-man, Alt-man, students at the LT. of U., accompanied ac-companied by Alvin Burningham of Salt Lake City, motored to Milford Mil-ford last Thursday to enjoy Thanksgiving with home folks. Mr. Burningham was a guest at the Altman home. The Pierian club met at the home of Mrs. J. R. Murdock sr.l Monday evening. The regular meeting proceedings were carried out after which dainty refreshments refresh-ments were served Those present were Mrs. Ed Bardsley, Mrs. Vena H. Wilson, Mrs. O. C. Koch, Mrs. Roy White sr., and Mrs. Elva Sedgwick. Mrs. D. S. Williams entertained her bridge club Tuesday evening with Mrs. William Cochrane receiving re-ceiving the club prize, Mrs. Rudolph Ru-dolph Nielsen the house prize and Mrs. J. C. Smith the consolation prize. Others present were Mrs. M. H. Pool, Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. J. M. Hughes and Mrs. J. E. Wilson. Mrs. George Moore was hostess to the Big Four Bridge club at her home Wednesday evening. Those present were Mrs. Robert Price, Mrs. Lloyd Lee, Mrs. Harry Garfield, Gar-field, Mrs. Ronald Banks, Mrs. G. C. Cuddy, Mrs. Oscar Stephen-sen, Stephen-sen, Mrs. J. P. Holm and Mrs. Lois Moore. Prizes were won oy -Mrs. Garfield, Mrs. Cuddy and Mrs. Moore. Mrs. Harold Cline was hostess to her bridge club Tuesday night. Those enjoying the efening were Mrs. George Jefferson, Mrs. K. B. Coon, Mrs. Lloyd Kohler, Mrs. Thomas Gcrrard, Mrs. Vic Carlson, Carl-son, Mrs. Powell Smyth and Mrs. Sam Cline. The first high score prize wag won by Mrs. Smyth, second high by Mrs. Kohler and third high by Mrs. Coon. The Saturday Afternoon Bridge club mot December 23 at the home 1 M Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen. The hostess served an early lunch after which bridge was enjoyed by tie following women: Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. J. E. Wilson, Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr., Mrs. William Cochrane, Mrs. Val Ycpscn, Mrs. .Snm Cline and Mrs. Thomas Ger-rard. Ger-rard. The high points priz" was won by Mrs. Yepsen, high honor prize by Mrs. Wilson and consolation consola-tion by Mrs. Cline. The American Legion Auxiliary held their social meeting at the home of Mrs. Geno Kirk last Friday Fri-day night. The hostesses for the entertainment were Mrs. Kirk, Mrs. Metta Weston and Mrs. Or-ina Or-ina Carlson. Ilridge was played with Mrs. Ethel Nielsen winning hijrh. pi..ts p:l-e, Mrs. Ethel Smith high honors prize and Mrs. Letha Smyth the consolation prize. Others present were Mrs. Carlie Waddoups, Mrs. Naomi Hughes, Mrs. Ardath Outzen, Mrs. Marie Lewis and Mrs. Magdalina White. The Ladies Literary club met November 14 with Mrs. Asenith Pool. Refreshments were served to the following members: Lucy Hendrickson, Jennie Gospill, Ruth Williams, Emma Smith, Gladys Gospill and Susan Baxter. The meeting was called to order by President Lucy Hendrickson and after a short business session, Mrs. Smith gave an interesting review re-view of "Utah in Pioneer Days", after which the meeting adjourned adjourn-ed to meet November 2S with Miss Gladys Gospill. McCoy Williams, son of Orrin R. Williams of Milford, was en-1 listed in the United States navy ! at Salt Lake City, Utah, N'ovem-j ber 19, according to a release from : the navy recruiting office in Salt Lake City. Mr. Williams is aj graduate of the Milford high J school and applied for the navy! through the United States Navy recruiting station at Cedar City. He passed through Milford on Thanksgiving day, destined for the navy training station at San; Diego, California, where he will undergo an eight weeks training period. Mrs. Agnes Kauert entertained the Bridgadiers Friday evening,' November 22, with a delicious dinner, din-ner, after which contract bridge was played. High points awards went to Mrs. Hazel Stcenbock and 1 Mrs. Stonohockcr, high honors to J Mrs. Wanda Holm and Mrs. j Raines, while consolation award ' went to Tanis Strofeld. Frances 1 Jefferson was the recipient of a lovely birthday cake and many lovely gifts from the club members mem-bers in honor of her birthday which occured November 11, Others present were Mrs. Kath-crine Kath-crine Shingleton, Iettie Fother-ingham Fother-ingham and the hostess.
