Show Joint Meeting Is Complete Success With 52 men and wpmen in attendance at-tendance and a fine spirit prevailing, prevail-ing, Monday evening's joint meeting meet-ing of Milford Wildlife Protective Protec-tive association members and the farmers of South Milford was a big success from every point of view. Sandwiches and .coffee were prepared and served by South Milford Mil-ford ladies, the "makings"" having been provided and paid for by the association. The meeting, held at the Community Com-munity Club house, was called for the purpose of asking the cooper, ation of the farmers in the preservation pres-ervation of wildlife and particular- ly to prevent the further poaching : of pheasants. About 15 members i of the association . were present, the remainder of the group being made up of South Milford residents. resi-dents. Attorney Sam Cline, association president, explained the purpose of the meeting and asked the active ac-tive cooperation of the farmers, particularly in the apprehension of poachers. The farmers also were tendered membership in the club without charge in consideration of their support, and membership cards will be mailed to them by the secretary-treasurer within a short time. The farmers also were asked to name a few of their num-' ber to act as deputy wardens without with-out pay, and this too will be done. The farmers asked the cooper, ation of the club in having their grounds posted and the following stated that they wished their acreage included: Ivan McKnight, Ambrose Brashaw, Arthur O. Williams, Wil-liams, Ben Lewis, Amos I. Jackson, Jack-son, Walter Weber, Earl Sly, William Wil-liam J. Baker, Carl Elmer, Parley B. Fisher, Mrs. King and William Nichols. More of the farmers likely like-ly will wish to join in the movement, move-ment, but approximately 1000 acres are represented by these land-owners. The club agreed to help in this matter and promised to either get the necessary notices from the state commission or furnish them1 at the club's expense, with the un. derstanding .that the actual posting post-ing would be done by the landowners. land-owners. The farmers agreed to support the club in its determination determina-tion to stamp out the poaching of gavie birds and promiscuous shooting, shoot-ing, including shooting of any kind from the highways. Section 103-21-7, Laws of Utah, provides as follows: "It shall be unlawful for any person to disr charge any kind of a firearm from any automobile or other vehicle, or to discharge a firearm within 50 feet of any public highway. Any person violating any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall he fined in a sum not less than $25." $25." v |
