LOOKING BACKWARD i ' .-'"yv-N-" Items of interest taken from the I A-l fe)L F'! of the Milford News of it Fifteen years ago. this week i The Minersville basketball team had won the championship of the Millard division and had gone to Salt Lake City to enter the state tournament. They vi;re one of the 1G teams to enter the state high school tournament. The much talked of basketball team from Pocatello, claiming the championship of the Union. Pa-cific Pa-cific system, by reason of defeating defeat-ing all the principal clubs on the Union Pacific system, including Omaha. Grand Island, Cheyenne and Salt Lake, journeyed to Milford Mil-ford to add another victory to their unbroken list, but were defeated de-feated by the local bunch by a score of 39 to 31. Outstanding Milford players were R. Banks. Speck Banks and Stanley. The high school had presented a very successful vaudeville with more than 50 people taking part. In a one-act play the cast included Roy Carlson, . Jack Hillary, Fred Cottrell. Gladys Coleman, Beryl Young: and Larue Davis. The dancing and singing chorus consisted con-sisted of Ardella Stirling. Mary Vincent. Reva Lynn, Phyllis Levi, Beryl Young. Dorothy Murdock. Eva Bowman. Eva Joest, Anna Chapman, Thelma Rogers, June Carter and Alice Ward. Others outstanding in the vaudeville were Mary Kemp. Max Root, J. Ahern, Myrtle Osborn. Mabel Bradfield, Elma Hickman and Mereon Mc-Keon. Mc-Keon. Donald Marksheffel. 10-year-old son of Edward MarksheiTel of Salt Lake but formerly of Milford. Mil-ford. had been bruised badly on the head when struck by an automobile. auto-mobile. The local lire department had made two runs during the week of March 12, one to the garage of the Methodist parsonage and the other to the garage of D. N. Nott. Both fires had been caused by small boys playing with matches. Art Kinney had left for Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was to go in training with the Tulsa team in ; the Western baseball league. Mrs. j Kinney was to remain here with i her mother, Mrs. W. O. White, for awhile. After , a very enjoyable program refreshments refresh-ments wore served by the committee, commit-tee, Mr. Tribole and Mrs. B. Sherwood. Sher-wood. A snow storm had visited Beaver Bea-ver county. Charles Beard, local weather bureau man. had reported report-ed a total of .(14 inch during this storm. There had been born to Mr. and I Mrs. Robert E. Lee, a son. on I March 11; to Mr. and Mrs. John j Holmes, a boy on March 1 ; and I to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Limb, a girl on March 1. j The Pierian club had met at the , home of Mrs. Foster Dewey, with Vice President Mrs. D. A. Baxter presiding. Those present were Mesdames Baxter. Bowman. Faye : Hickman, Litchfield. Markham, E. I F. Sherwood. R. Sherwood, Steen- bock. Roy White, Wilson. Bailey, 'Jennings. Heatnn and Miss Miller. A large number of parents had attended a program given by the seventh grade pupils. Those taking tak-ing part were Dorothy Quayle, Helen Carlson.
