Show L.D.S. Church Urges Beautifying In anticipation of the 1947 Utah Stale Centennial celebration, the L. D. S. church is asking all their m.-mbers to take part in a home l.eautification program f'r 1941, and when certain standards are attained, an award will be given. In every stake and ward committees commit-tees have bein organized, and they are expected to lead out and put this program over. Many people judge our standards stand-ards of living by the appearance of our homes and surroundings. Beautiful surroundings are conducive con-ducive to more cheerful and happy lives. People living in a clean place are more apt to enjoy beautiful beau-tiful lives and better health. The program is expected to start at once and commence with a clean-up. A careful survey by the committee will show the conditions con-ditions of the homes and what will be necessary in order to beautify them. In each ward a subcommittee will be appointed to judge the homes according to the following score card: For a thorough cleanup clean-up of homes and surroundings, 20 points will be allowed; if buildings, build-ings, gates, fences, walks, etc., are put in good repair, 20 points will be given; the landscaping and I general appearance of the place, and appropriateness of the planting plant-ing of the front yard or public ' area, the back yard or private i area, and the service area are to ! be given 30 points; 10 points will be given for care of buildings and ! surroundings during1 the season; for well-kept lawns, both front and back yard, 10 points will be given; and for trees, another 10 points will be allowed. When the judges feel that a home with its surroundings is worthy of 70 points out of the 100, they will so report, and an award will be sent them. The score card for the first year has been so arranged that the main objective can be largely accomplished by labor and the spending of very little money. Pride, neatness, and a desire to keep the home well cared for will be considered in the scoring. Every member of the family should take part in helping to make the home more beautiful. Take pictures showing the progress pro-gress of the work before it is started and again when completed. It will cost very little to beautify your home. Let's make our community com-munity further noted for its well-kept well-kept homes. |
