Show 'Way Over Top In War Bond Drive IMilford's Fourth War Loan efforts ef-forts were really an accomplishment accomplish-ment of which the people of our city may be proud. When the final figures were made available,, avail-able,, and the dust from the "big push" had cleared away, these were the results : a grand total of $58,653.25, as compaTed to a quota of $38,600 set for Milford. j The following groups and organizations or-ganizations helped very materially ma-terially in the drive, the amounts they sold also being giVen: The Elementary school $1,963.30 ($750 of this amount was secured last. Saturday afternoon when a1 "treasure "treas-ure hunt" was held, this having I been carried out by the students collecting all the unfilled stamp books and the money balance i needed to convert the slt&mps into bonds), the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary sold $22,970.00, the American Legion Auxiliary sold . $7,325.20, and the auction held alt the Firmage theatre resulted re-sulted in the sale of $5,000 worth of bonds. These are really fine records and the groups should be proud of the results attained. The employes of the Union Pacific Pa-cific railroad were solicited by members of their own organization organiza-tion and, in addition to their regular payroll deductions, they pledged themselves for approximately approxi-mately $5,000 worth of Fourth War Bonds. The raising of the remainder of the amount wa's due to the very fine volunteer purchase of bonds by the people of Milford, and the Fourth War Loan committee wishes to thank everyone that helped to make this drive a success. suc-cess. 17 |
