Show i -v High School Notes Tigers Lose to Cedar City In a fast, shifty game Friday, iNovemper 12, the Cedar City football team defeated the Milford ! Tigers, 25 to 6. Our home team j tried, but could not stop the well-, well-, trained, fast Cedar crew, and Milford Mil-ford scored only one touchdown. Each team hed quite a number I of rooters in the sidelines, and many townspeople were present. ' This was the last game of the season. Test is Given to Seniors Last Tuesday, Novemlber 9, the Army-Navy specialized training j V-12 test was given to High i School Seniors in the science room I under the direction of Mr. Hughes. This test is vtery hard and everyone every-one who passes it has the chance of going into the Army or the Navy and take any specialized schooling these two branches of the service have to offer. The re-I re-I suits of this test won't be known i for about two weeks, but we ! surely . hope some of the boys ! passed it. Party Is Given On Friday night, November 12, j a party : for all the students was ; held in the Milford High School gym. This party was sponsored by the student body officers and paid for out of student body imioney. All types cf dancing were held, p.Tid at 10:3D ice creaw and cookies j were served to all. Most of the students were there, and it was a great success. j ; Armistice Day Program is Given : On Thursday, November 11, the annual Armistice Day program and essay contest was held in the high school auditorium. It was , sponsored by the American Legion ! Auxiliary, and the program was j , very good. : I Th essay contestants wr L-i nora Bowen, Anna Marie Outzen, John Griffiths and Billy Holmes After much discussion, Lenora's and John's were selected as the best. These two received the Americanism medals while the other two contestants received1 one dollar each in War Stamps. Many townspeople as well as members of the student body attended at-tended the program, which was well worth their time. Carnival Is Planned The students are spending their off hours this week in the gym, building booths for the annual Carnival to be held on Friday, November 19. Although there is a scarcity of materiwls this year, the students) are putting forth every effort to make the carnival a success. First Term Ends Friday, Novemlber 12, marked the end of the first of four nine-week nine-week terms in Milford High srhool. The marks given this term w-ere low, but all the students are striving to get all "A's" on their next term cards and also through the year. School Progresses The faculty members are surely performing a wonderful work this year. The school is well organized, organ-ized, and the students are beginning begin-ning to realize that school is a place to work instead of to play. The Hilltop Echo has been very well organized with Mrs. Williams as adviser. The first issue came out last Monday, and it met with a great student acclaim. F. F. A. Chapter Meets The Milford chapter of the F. F..A. met Tuesdryy November 9 with Lorraine Gillins, president, in charge. The purpose of the meeting was to plan a calendar of activities for the coming yect. It was decided that the club would sell chances on some farm animals and produce-during the cErnival. Big Carnival Looms On Horizon The annual school carnival will be held Friday evening, November 19, in the hig-h school gymnasium. j This year the carnival promises j to be one of the biggest and best j ever as class competes against 1 clii.Ss for honors and points given i for the best booths built and the I most tickets sold. lEach class has charge of inter-j esting .and unique booths, each one j representing a tune of the k'rger theme of the carnival, "The Hit Tarade." An interesting feature of the dance will be the big turkey raffle conducted during intermission, iwhen the holder of the lucky ticket will receive a large 20-.pound 20-.pound turkey. Each .class !has elected a king and queen. During intermission, the . class having the largest number num-ber of points will crown the king end queen. Kings and queens for the various classes are: Seniors, Blair Coon and Betty Davidson; Juniors, Rex Carter and LaHee Marshall; Sophomores, Eugene Johnson and Geraldine . Turner; Freshmen, Don Ashworth and Carol Myers; .Eighth, Chao-les Baxter and Marie Uren;i Sexenth, DeLos Hollis and Carlie Thom.p-I Thom.p-I son. |
