June 22, 1!37. To Heaver County Taxpayers and School I'atrons: You have no doubt noticed the notices in the county papers (The Milford News ami the Heaver l'res) of a prnxsed $55,000.00 bond issue for remodeling and making additions to school buildings build-ings in Heaver county. The re-J modeling and additions are very' serious needs and, if made, will reflect re-flect in better scholarship and a better school program for the children chil-dren attending schools in this county. The program cannot be carried out as needed, recommended and planned unless cooperation is se-e se-e red from the federal government through the I'rblic Works administration. adminis-tration. The I". A, has mad-grants mad-grants or gifts to the extent of 45 per cent of the entire cost of buil I-ings I-ings and equipment and if such corporation can be secured for Heaver district, t he g ran t in ma t '-h-i, g the proposed $55,000.00 of local money would be $45,000.00. If the recommended program i-I i-I ot carried out now, it is very likely ' that in the near future the coun- ly taxpayers will find it neces-ar'' to construct the buildings or addi-'ions addi-'ions recommended above and pos-i pos-i sibly without the generous federal aid that it may be no.-sible to secure se-cure al the present time. Favorable Favor-able consideration of the proposed bond i-sue will most likely provide Heaver county with adeouate buildings build-ings at low cost to the taxpayers of the county. You will also note the bond issue provides for shop buildings, additions addi-tions and remodeling to grade and high school buildings and an auditorium. audi-torium. The inadequacy of the school shops in Beaver county for effective effec-tive shop work is unquestioned. They have been seriously and negar tively scored by state supervisors. More room, more equipment and a better opportunity for work would greatly stren;rthen the shop pro-, rram for our boys and girls. At the present time shops are being operated in class or laboratory rooms, which of necessity limits the work to a very meager and unsatisfactory un-satisfactory program. Remodeling and additions to (Continued on last page) School Bond Issue (Continued from first page.) grade and high school buildings are designed to make for greater health and safety for the school children and improve the buddings for more effective u-e. Better ventilation and elimination of unsatisfactory un-satisfactory rooms now being used are being planned. It is aNo being planned to eliminate several fire hazards that now exist in at least three of the buildings now l-ing used. Some work has already been done in this respect but undoubtedly undoubted-ly more is necessary. It is the desire of the present Board of hlducation to improve scholarship among the children attending at-tending county schools. Adequate buildings and equipment for students stu-dents are like good canals to the farmer, good tools to the mechanic and a well-euipped kitchen to the housewife. Good buildings, good equipment, good teachers and a standard school term will no doubt bring the typo of scholarship yon desire for your children. To this end the school board is working. Favorable consideration of the proposed bond issue will help to achieve better scholarship and a better school program. It is the hoe of the members of the Board of Fducation that you vote your convictions Monday, June IS. They recommend the project as a very worthy one. Respectfully submitted. BOARI) OF F.Pl "CATION.
