Show AERIAL ACCIDENTS Two tragedies of the air within the state of Utah terminated termi-nated five lives during the past week. One occurred near Milford and the other near Randolph. In the first a little girl, her father and a friend were enjoying- an evening- flight. In the second two friends were flying a few miles to visit another friend. In neither instance was a passenger plane involved nor a professional pilot responsible. Kach craft was privately owned own-ed and operated. There is no need of putting.a black mark against aviation any more than to condemn bathtubs because a baby drowned in one the other day. These accidents are just as deplorable as if they had happened under rigid regulations, but they cast no reflection upon aerial navigation. Amateur engineers might have trouble in a modern locomotive without discrediting- the long record of usefulness and speed and safety the mighty machine ma-chine has made. In the course of time it is believed that planes can be operated by every grade of individual just as automobiles are today. It also is hoped that this may be done with better success and fewer fatalities than traffic records indicate has been the result of four decades of motoring on streets and highways.
