Show Drive For Paper Is In Full Swing ; Beaver county's big paper drive j is now getting underway and it is : expected that a carload of paper will be assembled for shipment the first week in September, at which time a car will be spotted at Milford for shipment to Salt Lake City. In Milford the L. D. S. church is sponsoring the drive with Boy Scouts assisting. Proceeds from the sale of paper gathered locally will be divided between the church and Scouts, with a percentage to go to the Women's Salvage organization organi-zation to assist in carrying on its work. That portion of the proceeds pro-ceeds going to the church will 'be utilized in the purchase of new seats for the chapel, with church headquarters matching all funds raised locally for this purpose. Inasmuch as the chapel frequently is used for all-community gatherings, gather-ings, the people of the town as a whole should be interested in this worthy project. Postmaster Rudolph Nielsen will be chairman of the local drive, and arrangements are being made for the gathering of paper on Friday of each week. It is urged that local people keep in mind the following instructions: in-structions: Put all catalogs in a single bundle, magazines in .another .an-other bundle and newspapers in still another, tieing all bundles with stockings or strips of cloth. Waste paper and paper scraps should be crashed and placed in cardboard cartons. Do not take paper to the salvage depot. Contact Postmlaster Nielsen Niel-sen for further information concerning con-cerning this drive. Paper is being consumed faster than we are collecting it The paper industry is operating on less than a 15-day supply and. with the necessity of shipping ma. terial and equipment increasing daily, it becomes imperative that waste plaper be collected from ever conceivable source. In fact, the paste paper situation situa-tion is critical so critical that the army is now preparing to salvage waste paper in the North African and South Pacific combat zones to ship back home for reuse. |
