Show : Economy, Safety To Be Stressed Increased operating economy and additional safety features will be displayed to the public on November No-vember 11, accordingto pre-show information reaching L. A. Wynaught, Wy-naught, vice-president of the:Utah Motorist association. Following the national automobile show, beginning be-ginning in New York City on Armistice Arm-istice day, the new models will be on view at many other shows throughout the nation. "Further,, refinements in present models with only a minimum of radical departures are in prospect at this year's showing," Mr. Wynaught Wy-naught declares.. "Sales of cars so far this year are the second highest high-est in history, being exceeded, only by 1929, and the industry expects a total production of 4,600,000 vehicles. ve-hicles. Further indication of present pre-sent prosperity in the automobile industry is the department of commerce com-merce report which shows retail financing of automobiles during the first six months of this year running 60 per cent ahead of the same period last year. "With things booming- along at this rate, it is unlikely that manufacturers manu-facturers as a whole will make any radical changes. Rather, this year, like last year, should be another of sound, steady growth in development develop-ment of the motor oar.- "The effort to provide greater operating economy unquestionably will be an outstanding trend this year, due to a growing public demand de-mand for more fuel efficiency. Comfort Com-fort also will be a major factor with greater- attention given to more head and leg room, with a consequent tendency to move engines en-gines farther toward the front of the car. Unquestionably there will be further steps in the direction of streamlining, combining beauty with mechanically sound engineering engineer-ing to reduce wind resistance." |
