I FIRST and SECOND GRADE We have painted our furniture. The furniture is painted green. We all helped to paint it. We like to paint. Eugene Canavan. We have some new books. They! are about Peter and Peggy. They j aie called Round the Year. We like i to read them. Lvcile Smith. Easter is coming. We want, to! go on an Easter trip. We will t-.ike Easter baskets. We will have a lunch in our Easter baskets. Mary Wilson. SECOND GRADE We have a new girl. Her name is Dorothy. There are 33 people in our room now. Billy Walker. We made a new book. It is about Indians. It has how they make blankets and bowls in it. We w-ote a poem to put in our book. We like to work in it. Helen Mae. Mrs. Bond is reading about Heidi. She lives on the mountain in a hut with her grandfather. She is a cute rascal. We think it is a good story. Mar Jean. We have a new printing set. We won the prize at Parent-Teachers meeting. We like to print with it. We like it very much. Howard. THIRD GRADE We are studying water transportation. trans-portation. We have three pages done. The first boat was a log, the second boat was a raft and the third boat was a dug out canoe. Bob Weber. We have finished air transportation transpor-tation and we are studying water transportation. We have four pictures pic-tures in colors. There is a picture of the Queen Mary, Old Ironside and two others. Beverly Weston. We are going to make a picture show about boats. It will show the first boats up to the steamer. We will take it the the different grades when it is done. We have different people working. First we draw the picture for our own little books and then choose the best one from them. Rae Bond. We have finished air transportation transporta-tion and are now studying water transportation. The first boats "were funny. The people that made them were cave men. We are making mak-ing a picture show and a book of our own. I think it is an interesting interest-ing study. Ann Marie Outzen. FOURTH GRADE Today we read the Weekly Readers. It was all about whales. Some of the oil from the whale is used for soap, candles, fat for cooking, perfumes and creams. If you have a watch maybe it va; oiled with whale oil. A lot of things have whale oil in them. Kathleen Kesler. We are making a frieze. It is about the Spaniards. They are coming down a hill and they can see the pueblo houses which were called the Seven Cities of Cibola. Ruth M. Zabriskie. Today in our weekly reader it had a story in it about many boats coming home from the Antarctic. Ten thousand men are returning home. This year the whaling season sea-son didn't start until December 8. It ended March 7. Gloria Limb. We have two new baby calves. They are very cute. Last night when I was putting one in the pen, he started to run and he fell down over a stick of wood. Don Sly. Coronado's Jounrney (Continued from last week) Mendoza decided to send Corona-do Corona-do on the next jounrney. Caronado started on his expedition. They captured the Seven Cities of Cibola but found no riches. Some Indians told them there was lots of gold in Quivia. They started there but r.evcr found what they wanted. Phyllis Lyman, i I am reading a book about Moni,' ! the Goat Boy. I like it very much, j It is about a little boy and he is' i very poor. He herds goats. FIFTH GRADE The Grade School Prom The Junior class of the high school held a prom for the grade school. It was very fine. We played play-ed games which were a lot of fun and danced to the tune of a good orchestra. iBlair Coon. School Windows Our school windows are decorated decorat-ed with Dutch people, windmills and flowers. They are pretty. Junior Stewart. Our New Boy In the fifth grade we have a new boy. His name is Richard Vest. He is an industrious boy. He has been here only a few days but he is acquainted with nearly every one. Betty Davidson. Lost Dog A dog lost his way last Wednesday Wednes-day and wandered into the fifth grade room. We all laughed out Toud so Max Robert took him out side. Orlyn Johnson. SIXTH GRADE During the last week or so the people of our school have started playing jacks and marbles. The hali up stairs is the usual place for the girls to play jacks. When it is cold outside the boys play marbles i in their rooms, as well as outside. , Mary Jane Kesler. In our social science we are, studying about Feudalism. This is about knights and vassals and some of the old castles with drawbridges. draw-bridges. It is very interesting and fun to draw pictures of knights. Gerald Hickman. Thursday morning, March IS, Amelia Earhart landed on the Hawaiian Ha-waiian Islands. The navy soldiers put a leis around her neck. Amelia Earhart said she was very tired and that she held on to the control con-trol all the time. The government sent ships to follow all the way on her path. Arline Moore. |
