Show jChildren Try For Auxiliary Award Wednesday afternoon pupils of the Milford grade school gave : some very interesting patriotic I orations before students of their I classes and a number of visitors land judges and one contestant was chosen from each grade to give his oration during the Washington day program which is to be held Frir.ay afternoon at the high school under the auspices of the American Legion and Auxiliary. The students are to be commended com-mended for the manner in which they delivered their orations and also for the e'ffort which their talks showed had been put forth in preparing their speeches. The fifth grade is to be especially complimented for the high percentage per-centage of pupils who entered. The cooperation am", encouragement encourage-ment that was given by the teachers teach-ers is also very much appreciated. The winners from the. different grades were as follows: First grade, Rae Bond; second grade, Le Nora Bowen; third grade, Masiko Imai; fourth grade, Wallace Mas-tros; Mas-tros; fifth grade, Douglas Ryan; sixth grade, Thorp Waddingham. The judges for grades one, two and three were Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr., Mrs. Lester Farnon and Mrs. Merrill Edwards. For the grades four and six the judges were Mrs. Vena Wilson, Mrs. J. E. Lowe and Mrs. Milton Pool. For grade five the judges were Mrs. Carl Rohn, Mrs. Harold Cline and Mrs. Harvey Har-vey Dean. The American Legion Auxiliary was very pleased with the -results of the contest and hope as great an interest will be shown in the story hour which is to be held once a week at the library, commencing in the near future. |
