Show i Eurekans Enthuse Over Shorter Road i : John F. Rowe, George Gurley, Ed Van Lowen and Angus Miller, all from Eureka, came to Delta last Saturday for the purpose of getting names to a petition asking for a road from Eureka into Salt Lake City, which will shorten that distance by 37 miles. The new road will take off the summit at Eureka, pass up the draw by the plaster mill, and after making a slight climb, will then go almost north over a good mountain moun-tain surface into Fairfield, and then, by easy gradient, connect with the Redwood road out from Salt Lake City. The new road will materially lessen the time of travel, putting Salt Lake almost drectly north of Eureka, with no necessity of going the long detour to gain the east side of Utah lake. It is over good firm mountain soil, not any of the dusty low bottom land on the west of the lake encountered at all, and Mr. Rowe states that he has ridden on horseback over it, and recommends it highly. The Eureka delegation already have support of Salt Lake City, and will work through Representative Fennel Fen-nel to put it over as all FERA project. The Eureka delegation thought they would be quite well pleased to get fifty names in Delta, and much to their surprise they got over two hundred. Delta Chronicle. |
