At twelve markets, sup-I sup-I plies fell about Hi, 000 short of the i previous week but about 10,000 I more than a year ago. I Diverse currents preva-'led in the j market. Slaughter steers were in I relatively liberal supply and prices on these worked rc to 50c lower. Tops registered $lu.r0, with numerous num-erous sales at $14 to $15.50 and common kinds down to $12 and under. Good to choice cows were relatively scarce and they, along with a moderate assortment of fed heifers, moved on a generally steady basis, while lower grade cows, including canners and cutters, cut-ters, sagged 25c to 50c. Several loads of strictly good cows brought $13.25 to $13.75, with other useful kinds at $12.25 to $13. Good to choice heifers sold at $14.25 to $15. two loads making the latter price. Other useful kinds moved at $115 to $14. A few very common canners can-ners dropped to $6 and under but most canners cleared at $6.50 to $7.50, with a few toppier kinds around the $8 mark. Culls were active and firm. A few good butcher 'bulls sold at $12.50 to $13. Calves were uneven but largely around $1 lower. While a few odd head sold at $15.50 to $16, tin-practical tin-practical top was $15, with a good" many medium to good calves going at $13 to $14.50. Demand for replacement re-placement stock was less active but prices recorded no pronounced change. Several loads of well fleshed feeders sold at $13.50 to $13.75, good stockers $12.50 to $13.50 and plainer grades down to $10 and below. A few loads of choice range feeding heifers sold at $12.35 to $12.50. Feeding cows held largely around $7 to $8. Hoga maintained a generally firm basis for the week. Ceiling tops held at $15.75, including weights upward to 275 pounds. Some extreme heavies sold at $15.25 and Some medium hogs and underweights cashed at $15 to $15.50. Sows were firm with SI 4.. 10 to $14.75 taking better kinds. Sheep and lambs were strong. A few best lambs sold up to $15.25 and good wooled ewes to $6.50. Supplies continued very light. V - |
