A tournament for boys had been completed, with Roy Coleman jr. ranking at the head, winning a match from Billie Tribole by scores of 6-3 and 6-4. Vurl Frazier and Tribole won the doubles championship champion-ship from Warren Ferguson and Coleman by 6-4 and 8-6 scores. Thirty-two women had been entered enter-ed in a women's tournament, and 1 it was considered somewhat early; to pick a winer, but the following ' were playing fast tennis: Mildred Killam, Mrs. Bill Morley, Mrs. j Root, Miss Carter and Mrs. Burns.) The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hickman had been observed with a big family reunion in the L. D. S. church, with 87 partaking of the banquet and participating in the dancing which followed. The occasion also was the 71st birthday of Mr. Hickman. Hick-man. The worthy campaign for subscriptions sub-scriptions for the Milford swimming swim-ming pool, sponsored by the Lions club, was beingxresponded to in a generous way, with nearly 300 subscribed thus far by business men and others. The following had been signed up to teach school in Milford for the school year of 1930-31: High school iM. J. Andrews, Jean Wood-side, Wood-side, Wanda Garrett, Melbourn Heslington, J. M. Hughes, Mildred Barnes and Lorus Hand; elementary elemen-tary D. C. Heslington, Helen Dorenkemper, Vera R. Bond, Elva S. Heslington, Sarah Fletcher, and Ruth Fortie. Minersville high school teachers for the school year of 1930-31 were to be Kenneth 0. Maughn, Melba Theurer, Oliver Graff ' and LaVar Isaacson. The elementary teachers teach-ers were Paul Worthen, Blanche, Woodward, Lola Roberts, Lillian j Carter and Elva Hall. Mrs. Mattie Ferguson had opened open-ed her new eating house under the name of "Mattie's Inn." Miss Margaret Cochrane had I gone to the Zion National park, where she was to. be employed for i the summer. j |
