Penney store manager, man-ager, was elected president for the 1945-46 club year, this nomination and others being part of a significant signi-ficant trend toward making use of the newer and youngeV members of the club, which, no doubt,' will result in a more active and alert organization. Also elected to serve for the coming club year were the following: follow-ing: Stanley H. Vernon,, first vice president; 0. W. Evans, second vice president; Elwood Jefferson, secretary-treasurer; Ben S. Hill man, Lion tamer; and L. B. Eld-ridge, Eld-ridge, tail-twister. Koch, a past president (1934-35), who was elected to serve again in that capacity last November, when the local club was reactivated after a period of suspension, due to the lack of a suitable place where dinner din-ner meetings could be held, following follow-ing the conversion of the Union Pacific dining .room to. sleeping quarters. Lion Secretary-Treasurer Jefferson takes the place of David S. Williams, secretary-treasurer of the club since October, 1934. Both of these officers indicated indi-cated in no uncertain terms, when the club was reactivated, that they desired to be released from office before another club year commenced commenc-ed and their wishes were acceded to by the nominations committee, composed of Lions Sam Cine, E. L. Smith and Vance Fisher. Reports from officers and committee com-mittee chairmen made up the remainder re-mainder of business matters coming- before the meeting. Lion Fisher reported Milford more than $2000 "over the top" in the 7th War Bond drive and also told of the planting, the day previous, of a tank load of quarter-pound rainbow 'trout in Minersville creek. - Lion Elwood Jefferson reported on the recent community clean-up campaign, which, however, had not yet been completed in its entirety. Lion M. H. Pool, was called on to report the work accomplished by the Milford members of the Beaver county post-war highway planning committee, on which he represented the town board of trustees, but he turned the matter of reporting over to Lion Secretary Secre-tary Williams, recently appointed to represent the club on the committee. com-mittee. Highway 21 west from Milford and the Greenville, Minersville Miners-ville and Catcs loop roads receiving receiv-ing the other designations, the latter three as a group project. |
