Show Hotel Advertises State Scenic Spots Chauncey W. West, assistant manager of the Newhouse hotel at Salt Lake, was a Milford visitor Thursday of last week and utilized to splendid advantage the time he had available for making new contacts and renewing acquaintance with his friends and of friends of the hotel he represents. The Newhouse hotel, in following out the policy for which Mr. West is largely responsible, is sure to reap gratifying reward in steadily increasing in-creasing patronage. Where most Salt Lake citizens, civic organizations, business houses and institutions generally have an eye only for getting get-ting state and outside people to Salt Lake as often and in as large numbers num-bers as possible there are a few who are inclined toward a broader attitude and one that permits of a "break" for other parts of the state. These people know full well that a large part of every dollar spent in the state, no matter how far removed from Salt Lake, eventually gravitates gravi-tates to that center whether or not that dollar is carried there personally personal-ly over roads that lead only to Salt Lake the selfish objective of too many Utah people who wield power in the state and who can see no good in any road or other civic activity which does not center in Salt Lake. Exemplifying- the interest of the Newhouse hotel in the state as a whole, that popular hostelry has recently re-cently put out a folder that is a beautiful piece of work from the printer's standpoint and advertises in brief but attractive manner outstanding out-standing scenic spots in all parts of the state. Characterized as "Your passport to the beauty spots that make Salt Lake City and the New-house New-house hotel the " 'Center of Scenic America,' " the folder features Puffers Puf-fers lake and Lehman's caves, Bryce, Grand and Zion canyons and the Mount Carmel highway, the Wayne Wonderland, eastern Utah coal beds and other scenic attractions, Utah's lakes, the Bear River marshes, Tim-anogos Tim-anogos cave and mountain and the historic Mormon temple. Included is a very fine map of the western states, which does justice to all parts of the state, and interior and exterior views of the hotel. Copies of this folder were distributed distri-buted by Mr. West at the recent meeting of the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah at Cedar City, and they made an instant hit with all those who were present. |
