Show THE LICENSED DRIVER When the state legislature approved a drivers' license law it took a definite step toward ridding the highways of incompetent and reckless individuals at the wheels of automobiles. So little financial burden is placed on the motorist by this act that there is no reason for complaint on that score. Utah by this action, joins other progressive stales which are endeavoring to legislate a degree of safety into motorized communities. com-munities. A recent survey conducted by an eastern university led to the conclusion that the majority of accidents on the roads are caused by road hogs and by outright recklessness. The death toll in all forms of accidents, regardless of the cause, is so appalling ap-palling that drastic steps are necessary to minimize the hazard. The licensing of drivers makes it possible for the state to command who shall be permitted to pilot a machine and who shall be barred from this privilege. It leaves a weapon in (lie hands of officials, for when one who has been licensed abuses that privilege he may be prohibited from driving ''V I-'"-' simple ji-oce:;s of revoking the license.
