Show VICTORY JflEATRE Chalk up another outstanding per- j formance for Marlene Dietrich in I "Blonde Venus," which shows at the Victory Theatre Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. Under the skillful direction of Josef von Sternberg, this picture becomes one of the year's best photoplays. Miss Dietrich in her role as the "Blonde Venus" successfully proves to her many admirers that she is an outstanding actress. In a role that commands every known human emotion, emo-tion, she grips her audience with her superb artistry and deep understanding understand-ing of the character she portrays. Her moods are perfect and genuine, and acted with a conviction that makes mak-es the story live. The supporting cast, all well chosen chos-en for their respective roles, includes Cary Grant, Herbert Marshall, Dickie Moore, Gertrude Short, Gene Morgan, Mor-gan, Robert Emmet O'Conner, Maude Truax and Rita La Roy. Virginia Bruce, blonde and talented, talent-ed, and described by Florenz Ziegfeld as one of the three most beautiful girls in Hollywood, plays the feminine femin-ine lead opposite Richard Arlen, and Jack Oakie in Paramount's "Sky Bride," which comes to the Victory for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, April 9, 10, 11. She was borrowed to play the part of inspirational sweets heart to Richard Arlen, from Metro-Gold Metro-Gold wyn-Mayer, to whom she is nov under contract. "Sky Bride" is a modern story of aviation motivated by a gripping theme of love and adventure, in which Richard Arlen, Virginia Bruce, Jack Oakie, Charles Starrett and Robert Coogan play the leading roles. The story of "Sky Bride" has a rich melodrramatic flavor. Arlen, as a tunt (Iyer for an air circus goes stale fter a crack-up that killed his partner. part-ner.
