Show Scout Patrols In Camporee Contest The Fox patrol was declared winner win-ner of the Milford Boy Scout troop camporee contest staged Monday and Tuesday northeast of town, outranking outrank-ing the Black Panther and Eagle patrols pa-trols in the order named. With the honor of winning- the local contest goes that . of representing the local troop at a district camporee to be held I'Hday and Saturday at Beaver, and of being1 the contesting patrol of the -Milford troop at the regional camp at Navajo lake, June 18-23, though plans are being made to place all registered locaL Scouts in that camp, if possible. The boys checked in at the troop camporee Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and proceeded to set up camp only with equipment, bedding and food which they had packed from town, remaining in camp until after noon Tuesday. Water was the only item transported for the boys and it won hi have done the local people good to have seen these youngsters march into camp with all equipment on their backs, and proceed to make camp. Quite a number of parents and friends did make the trip to the camp Monday evening and found their ins'igh into camporee activities both enlightening and inspiring. Among the visitors were District Scout Commissioner S. M. Wittwer and the district camping chairman, W. W. Farrer, both of Beaver, who came down especially to see the Milford Mil-ford boys in camp. Both were loud in their praise of the pluck and initiative of the boys, and expressed express-ed themselves as being impressed with what such activities mean to the growing boy. Joseph S. Eickerson, a former assistant as-sistant Scoutmaster in the east and affiliated with the local post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, sponsor or the Milford troop, acted as judge nf the contest and too much cannot b said of the splendid interest he took in the contest. Knowing Mr. Rickerson to be busy, he was asked only to inspect the checking in and setting up of camp and the dismantling dismant-ling and checking out, but he became .'.o imbued with the spirit of the work, that he made some five or six trips out to the camp and turned in a wonderfully well worked out score sheet, not to mention valuable sug-. gestions and constructive criticism. The camporee was in charge of Scoumaster J. B. Webster and the following Scouts took part: Fox Patrol iDick Thompson, leader; lead-er; Earl Thompson, assistant leader; Wan-en Thompson, Dave Lewis, Bob Nichols, Carol Johnson and Clifton James. Black Panther Dean Johanson, leader; Bud Williams, assistant leader; lead-er; Jay Jeffers, John Clay, Thomas Mastros, Bob Davis, Douglas Kirk and Vernon Beard.
