Show Parowan Man Sentenced On Manslaughter Charge Vern Applegate, 22 of Parowan, was sentenced Monday to two years in the Iron county jail by District Judge Le Roy H. Cox. Applegate pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, man-slaughter, speeding and driving without a driver's license. A charge of drunken driving was dismissed. Judge Cox suspended the sentence upon being informed that Applegate was employed as a sheepherder by Lloyd Ward of Parowan and with the provisions that the defendant im-mediately im-mediately go to work out of town and pay $10 a month to Mrs. Thomas Lambert, Panquitch, whose husband was killed two weeks ago when hit by an automobile driven by Apple-gate. Apple-gate. Earl Tebbs, 37, also of Pan-guitch, Pan-guitch, was badly injured in the same accident. The judge provided, further, that if Applegate visits his home in the next two years he is to be locked in the county jail while in town. One day at Christmas was excepted. m |
