Show Civic Clubs Worker Dies In Hospital Harry Rasmussen, Secretary, Passes After Brief Illness Harry M. Rasmussen, 47, of Richfield, Rich-field, secretary of the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern L'tah for the past several months, died in the ba-lina ba-lina hospital at 10:30 a.m. Friday, following an illness of heart, and kidney disease complicating asthma. - He was born August 21, 1887, at Ephraim, a son of Matt and Sena Rasmussen. He lived his entire life in southern Utah. He married Anne Knudsen at Provo November 15, 1911. He was employed by the Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad from 1901 until resigning in 1932 to enter a sales organization. He had been active in civic affairs of Mt. Pleasant, Fairview and Richfield before be-fore being elected to the secretaryship secretary-ship of the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah in March, 1934. He served several years on the cityj council of Fairviw and two terms as mayor during the 20 years he was located lo-cated there before going to Richfield in August, 1929. At Fairview he was the first president of the Lions club and a member of the Boy Scout court of honor. He was president of the Richfeld Lions club from October,1931, to October, Oc-tober, 1932; president of the Sevier County Fish and Game Protective association as-sociation at the time of his death, and a past master of the Damascus lodge No. 10, F. and A. M., at Mt. Pleasant. -As secretary of the civic organization organiza-tion Mr. Rasmussen carried out the greatest advertising 'campaign for southern Utah the territory had ever had and is credited with doing much toward development of the southern counties and bringing them together in their problems. Being active in the organization since it was formed in 1930, he was one of the best known and liked men in this part of the state. Surviving besides - his widow1 are five sons and daughters, Mrs. Arvil Riddle, Harry jr., Fern, Ruth and Ralph Rasmussen, Richfield; six brothers and sisters, Mrs. R. T. Romney, Salt Lake City; Mrs. James Knowles, Payson; Mrs. A. F. Dixon, Provo; Mrs.' Otto Nielson, Ephraim; Fred Rasmussen, Mt. Pleasant, and T. J. Rasmussen, Provo; also two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday noon in the Sevier L. D. S. stake tabernacle at Richfield with Bishop H. E. Peterson of the Richfield Fourth ward officiating. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Whynaught of Milford attended at-tended the services as representatives of his many friends in Milford. Internment In-ternment took place in the Ephraim cemetery. o ' |
