Show 1 Ladies Auxiliary to B. of R. T. ( Thursday afternoon, October 10, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood Brother-hood of Railway Trainmen held a meeting at the home of Mrs. J. D. McMurphy. Officials elected for the year were as follows: President Zula Webb. Vice-P.sident Clara McFadden. Secretary Anna Lee i Ticasurer Arvilla Muir Ward Nellie Hutchins Conductress Maurine McMurphy Inner Guard Prudence Jensen. Outer Guard Albena Muir Musician Myrtle Mills Old Friends' Club Mrs. Scott Tanner was hostess to the members of the Old Friends' Club at her home Wednesday, October 9. A pleasant afternoon was spent in playing Five Hundred, and score prizes were won by Mrs. Will Fern-ley, Fern-ley, first prize for high, and Mrs. A. M. Fotheringham, second. Mrs. Eph Smith was an invited guest. A delicious de-licious luncheon was served after cards to the Mesdames M. J. Andrews, Will Fernley, M. H. Pool, W. O. Carlson, B. E. Hutchins, Eph Smith, and A. M. Fotheringham. ! Pierian Club The Pierian Club met on Monday evening, October 14, at the home of Mrs. Bertha Sherwood. The Government lesson was conducted con-ducted by Mrs. Roy White. Mrs. Sherwood read an article on the Pan-American Pan-American Conference from the new ! fourteenth edition of the Encyclopedia Encyclo-pedia Brittanica. j Those in attendance were Mrs. E. L. Bardsley, Mrs. D. A. Baxter, Mrs. J. M. Hughes, Mrs. Roy White and Mrs. Lillian McGrie. Delicious refreshments re-freshments were served at the close ; of the evening. ' Enjoyable Public Dance The very large attendance at the Columbus Day Ball given at the jArion Hall Saturday night by the American Legion Auxiliary, demonstrated demon-strated that the Milford public likes good dance music and appreciates the efforts of an organization to sponsor a good social affair. Most outstanding of favorable comments heard about the dance was the excellence excel-lence of the music, given by the Milford Orchestra. This group of musicians make a hit with the dance crowd on this occasion, far surpassing their efforts at any other function recently. Mrs. Famon is Dinner Hostess Mr. and Mrs. Lester Farnon very ' pleasantly entertained a small company com-pany of friends at dinner at their home in the Sloan apartments, Tuesday Tues-day evening. Those bidden were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Morley, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Young and children, and Le-e C. Brown. S Mrs. C. A. Rohn Honored S One of the most pleasing affairs of the season was given last Thursday afternoon by the Social Hour Club, in honor of Mrs. C. A. Rohn, nee Margaret Mar-garet Cates. Mrs. Rohn has been an active member mem-ber of the club since' its organization and the party was a tribute of friendship friend-ship from her sister members. Several musical numbers and two humorous readings furnished entertainment enter-tainment reflecting credit upon the talent of the club's membership. Long tables decorated with streamers stream-ers in two shades of pink were set in the main room of the club house. Low vases of gilardia and tall vases of pink sweet peas flanked the five-tiered five-tiered bride's cake, resting on a mirror mir-ror in the center of the table. After a delicious two-course luncheon lunch-eon was served, the club president, Mrs. Kent Smith, presented the recent re-cent bride with a beautiful brass console set, as a gift from the club. The committee in charge of arrangements ar-rangements consisted of Mesdames Griffiths, Heslington, Cook, J. Weber and Haskell. |
