Show TIME TO BEGIN ANEW We believe in facing the truth as we find it, in recognizing conditions as they exist, without favor or prejudice. We do NOT believe in recognizing defeat, in weakheartedly throwing up our hands and laying down when everything appears to be against us. We do believe in facing conditions with a calm determination determina-tion to remove the handicaps which are operating to our disadvantage, disad-vantage, and with a will to forge forward and climb upward until we reach a new and prosperous economic level. And we believe in beginning RIGHT HERE IN THIS TOWN. Congress has not done all that we hoped for, certainly not all that they might have done, but such as it is it is done now let us make the best of it. For the past six months we were all justified in raising our voices that our views on economic subjects might be made known in Washington. This the people have done, probably to a greater extent than ever before in the history of our country. Now let us be equally forceful in aiding the return of prosperity, pros-perity, or at least improved economic conditions. Let us do our utmost to restore confidence, for confidence must return before economic recovery can become a reality. We have talked depression because there was nothing else to talk about. But congress has acted and we know what to expect in the future. We know how to shape our courses, what we may reasonably reason-ably expect. We have every faith that the depression, following the action ac-tion of congress, will slowly but gradually disappear, and the economic ec-onomic recovery will follow in its wake. Let's begin by showing the optimistic spirit in this commun-ty. commun-ty. Let's preach and act as we think. And let's forget the depression and let out a cheer for better times. They are on the way. |
